Mr. Ray Earwood, age 80, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at his residence following several months of illness.

He was born in Taylorsville, GA on June 5, 1933 a son of the late Warner Eugene Earwood and Odessa Welchel Earwood. Mr. Earwood had lived most of his life in Rockmart where he owned and operated Earwood Electric for fifty years. He had also served as a vocational electric teacher at Cedartown High School for a period of ten years. Mr. Earwood served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956 having been stationed in Alaska. He was a member of Rockmart Lodge # 97 F. & A.M., a former member and past President of the Optimist Club of Rockmart and was a member of the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association Car Club. Mr. Earwood was a member of the Baptist Church and at the time of his illness was attending Floyd Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Austin Earwood on August 14, 2012, by a grandson, Tarl Earwood; by brothers: Euene, Robert, Billy, W.C. and Frank Earwood; and by a sister, Christine Sprayberry.

Survivors include three children: Michael Earwood and wife Wendy, Warner Robbins, GA; Alicia Lee, Bremen and Myra Earwood and fiancé Randy Duncan, Silver Creek; five grandchildren: Kim Lee Causey and husband Brad, David Michael Lee, Rachel Elizabeth Jones, Ryan Earwood, Kristy Vanderwarker and husband Keith; ten great grandchildren: Tori Causey, Dayton Avery Jones, Sarenity Jones, Zayne Jones, Sarah Vanderwarker, Alex Earwood, Chaz Earwood, Dillon Earwood, Kya Kriseman and Tyler Earwood; one great great grandchild, Logan Earwood; two sisters: Wilma Yarbrough, Aragon and Sara Brownlow, Kenner, LA; one brother, Willard Earwood, Rockmart; Misty Womack and Chelsea Womack also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with the West Georgia Masonic Memorial Club in charge of Masonic Graveside Rites.

Pallbearers will include: Eddie Branton, Leon Cook, David Branton, Mark Garrett, Larry Earwood, Derrick Tilley and Edward Holcomb. David Branton and members of the CHVA Car Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Ray Earwood.
