Ray Moody

Mr. Ray Moody, age 72, of Crossroads Church Road Rockmart (the Yorkville Community) passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Paulding County, GA on May 3, 1940 a son of the late Pledger Melvin Moody and Gladys Mae Camp Moody. Mr. Moody had lived the greater part of his life in Paulding County with the exception of a six year period of time from 1967 to 1973 when he made his home in Winston, GA. He loved to farm and also enjoyed sports including baseball, football and NASCAR racing. Mr. Moody had been employed by EAM Inc. of Dallas, GA for twenty years and served as plant manager. He was a member of the Yorkville Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Billy Moody, Guy Moody and Gene Moody.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Moody of Rockmart to whom he was married on April 15, 1967; a daughter, Shelia Miller and her husband Stephen of Douglasville; by a son, Eddie Browning and his wife Wanda of Buchanan; two sisters: Alta Johnson and Shelia Ezzell both of Rockmart; by two brothers: Raymond Moody and Pledger Lewis Moody both of Rockmart; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Rush officiating. Interment will follow in the Yorkville Baptist Church Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Donald Bagley, Jeremy Ward, Chadwick Miller, Scott Moody, Pledger Moody and Raymond Moody.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
