Ray Yarborough

Mr. Ray Yarborough, age 74, of 737 Live Oak Road Aragon, GA passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 in a Marietta, GA hospital following a year long illness.


He was born on October 1, 1936 a son of the late Francis Boaz (Frank) Yarborough and Elmer Love Bishop Yarborough. Mr. Yarborough had lived all of his life in Polk County. He retired in 1998 from the Goodyear Mill where he had been employed for 28 years. Mr. Yarborough loved hunting, gardening and camping. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Yarborough was preceded in death by a sister, Martha McAbee and a brother, Horace Yarborough.


Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Wilma Earwood Yarborough of Aragon to whom he was married on January 14, 1956; three daughters: Vickie Burns and husband Danny, Taylorsville, Donna Savage and husband Mike, Aragon and Carol Shell and husband Wilburn, Aragon; one brother, Ellis Yarborough, Cedartown; five grandchildren: Jonathan(Nicole) Burns, Jeffery Burns, Leon(Katie) Shell, Kristy(Eric) Brumbelow and Ashley Savage (fiancee Kyle Sargent); four great grandchildren: Jayden Brumbelow, Raley Brumbelow, Ansley Burns and Avery Burns; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Don Spears and Rev. Anthony Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Baptist Church cemetery.


Mr. Yarborough will lie instate at the church Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.


Pallbearers will include grandsons: Jonathan Burns, Jeffery Burns, Leon Shell, Eric Brumbelow, Kyle Sargent and nephew Jerry Yarborough.


The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
