Rena Jackson Camp

Mr. Rena Camp, age 78, of 10 Lee Street, Rockmart passed away Monday, March 4, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness.


He was born in Polk county, GA on February 10, 1931 a son of the late Henry Camp and Pauline Wade Camp. Mr. Camp had lived the greater part of his life in the Polk and Bartow county area. He retired as a supervisor from the Floyd County Road Department following 22years of service. Mr. Camp was a former cabinet maker and was an avid golfer having been a member of the Goodyear Golf Club. Mr. Camp was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the post World War II era.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Mrs. Mary Sue Rice and Mrs. Betty Bramlett and by three brothers: Mr. Stephen Camp, Mr. Roy Camp and Mr. H.D. Camp.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Sanders Camp of Rockmart to whom he was married on January 1, 1964; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Wheeler, Rockmart; four step daughters: Mrs. Dottie Shelton, Rockmart, Mrs. Peggy Patterson, Rockmart, Mrs. Brenda McAllister, Brevard, NC and Mrs. Patricia Ingram, Silver Creek; two step sons: Mr. Wayne Sanders, Aragon and Mr. Ralph Sanders, Brookshire, TX; one brother, Mr. Robert Camp, Rockmart; two grandchildren: Hailey and Alyssa Wheeler; sixteen step grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held Thursday, March 6th. at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Ingram officiating. Interment followed in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.


Active pallbearers included: Edwin Bramlett, Mitchell Rice, Dale Bramlett, Calvin Carroll, Michael Shelton, Rodney Sanders, Billy Carroll and Jesse Hicks. Honorary pallbearers included: Dennis Shelton, Kenneth McAllister and Kevin McAllister.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
