Sherman E. Hulsey

October 4, 1942 — August 5, 2009

Mr. Sherman E. Hulsey, age 66, of 561 Vinson Mountain Road, Rockmart passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Polk County, GA on October 4, 1942 a son of the late Clarence W. Hulsey and Gertrude Baines Hulsey. Mr. Hulsey had lived all of his life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of Big H Grocery in Cedartown and Tip Top Poultry in Rockmart. Mr. Hulsey was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam as a Medic. He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Ann Goddard in March of 2003.


Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Inez Spain; two brothers: Mr. Robert Hulsey and Mr. Sonny Hulsey all of Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Dyer, Rev. Larry Davis and Minister Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of Military Graveside Rites.


Pallbearers will include: Ray Thompson, Jeff Tippett, Jason Hulsey, Robert Bowman, Chad Fortune, Jimmy Purser and Wayne Purser.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Sherman E. Hulsey.
