Steve (Stevie) Wingo

March 20, 1959 — February 27, 2019

Mr. Steve (Stevie) Wingo, age 59, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2019.

He was born in Titusville, Florida on March 20, 1959, son of the late Bomar Wingo and the late Essie Mae Williams Stegall. He was employed for twenty four and a half years with Union Carbide of Cartersville, GA and with the Georgia Department of Transportation for thirteen years up until his illness took him out of work. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church of Rockmart. Stevie will be remembered as a loving husband, daddy and popa. Also as a beloved co worker and loving brother to his five siblings.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Harry Stegall and infant sister, Hariett Stegall.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Wingo to whom he was married for 39 years on February 9, 1980; son, Brandon (Dana) Wingo and daughter, Amy Wingo Chandler; nine grandchildren: Sarah Wingo, Braydon Wingo, Taylor and Bailey Chandler, GracieMae Wingo, Cheyanne Graham, Austin Graham, Jordan Graham and Sawyer Graham; five siblings: Melissa (Mike) Rutledge, Kathy Lindsey, Pam (D.B.) Leatherwood, Joey (Jenia) Wingo and Todd (Natalie) Stegall; also a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey, Rev. Jerome Smith and Rev. Steve Woolfork officiating. A eulogy will be given by Camden McGill. Interment will follow in the New Smyrna Methodist Church Cemetery, Paulding County.

Pallbearers will include: Doug Miller, Jerry Keith, Carl Abernathy, Jerry Nicholas, Billy Mullinax and Mark Forsyth. Honorary pallbearers will include GDOT workers from his shop. Also: Greg, Dustin, and Jonathan Lindsey, Eric Burt, Trey Rutledge, Jeremy Mallett, Harlan Jr, Travis and Jon Morris.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory of Rockmart is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Steve (Stevie) Wingo.
