Susie Smith Earwood

Mrs. Susie Smith Earwood, age 85,of 3611 Friendship Ridge Lane , Powder Springs, GA passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 at her residence.


She was born in Dodge County, GA on June 4, 1923 a daughter of the late Enos Lee Smith and Violet Julia Smith. Mrs. Earwood had been a resident of Powder Springs since 1985 but had lived the greater part of her life in the Atlanta area. She was a member of the Cannan Fellowship Baptist Church for over fifty years. Mrs. Earwood retired in 1983 as a seamstress with the Carla Gay Dress Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Earwood on December 31, 1977.


Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Debera Sue Earwood Chard and a son, Mr. Gerl (Gerry) Van Earwood both of Powder Springs; one sister, Mrs. Fay Buckner, Atlanta; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Lee McGarity and Rev. Calvin Waddy officiating and her son, Mr. Gerry Earwood delivering a eulogy. Interment will follow in the Floyd Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Perry Lucas, Daecon Schartok, Damone Chard, Scott Lovell, Brandon Suggs and Andy Suggs. Simon Schartok will serve as an honorary pallbearer.


The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Susie Smith Earwood.
