T. J. Overby

Mr. Terry Scott (T.J.) Overby, Jr., age 18, of Buchanan, GA passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

T.J. was born in Rome, GA on September 16, 1996 a son of Terry Scott Overby, Sr. and Jann Paige Henderson Overby. He had lived most of his life in Haralson County where he was a Senior at Haralson County High School. T.J. enjoyed sports and had been involved in recreation league basketball, baseball and football. He was an avid runner having been a member of the Track Team, Cross Country Team and Junior ROTC Raiders at Haralson County High School. He had also participated in the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. T. J. was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ in Rome and was very active in the youth group of the church.

Survivors include his parents: Scott and Paige Overby, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Skye Overby, Buchanan; two brothers: Aaron Overby, Buchanan and Joey Overby, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Amber Powell, Valdosta; grandparents: Joe and Brenda Henderson, Buchanan and Darrell and Teresa Cagle, Rome; aunt, Jodi Sonderman (Paul), Newnan and aunt Julie Davis (Robert), Sand Rock, Alabama; numerous cousins and great aunts and uncles also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Tallapoosa with Ministers Ron Vick and Andrew Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Tanner Jordan, Aaron Overby, Charlie Henderson, Jack McEwen, Jason Brownlow and Will Henderson.

T.J. will lie instate at the First Baptist Church Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home, 304 W. Elm St. Rockmart and at other hours may be contacted at the residence of Joe and Brenda Henderson, 2475 Crossroads Church Rd., Buchanan, GA.
