Tanya Sharpe

Mrs. Tanya Leigh Sharpe, age 41, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in a Rome medical center following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Rome, GA on February 24, 1976, a daughter of Helen Runyan Cole and Hubert Cole. Tanya had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart graduating from Rockmart High School, class of 1994. She then attended Jacksonville State University graduating in May of 1999. While at JSU she served as President of Delta Zeta Sorority. Tanya was an elementary school teacher in the Polk School District for fourteen years. She was a member of the Rockmart First Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School. Tanya was an avid supporter of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life and was a leader in any endeavor that she supported.

Survivors include her mother, Helen Cole; husband, Geoffrey Sharpe to whom she was married on August 1, 1998; two daughters: Lexie Sharpe and Kyleigh Sharpe all of Rockmart; brothers: Barry Cole (Wanda), Rockmart and Richard Cole (Bonnie), Acworth; mother in law, Dana Sharpe, AL; father, Hubert Cole, Rockmart and sister, Susan Morris, Rockmart.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary of the Rockmart First Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Petty officiating and eulogies given by family and friends. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jason Odom officiating.

Mrs. Sharpe will lie instate at the church Friday from 10:00 am until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include: Danny Smith, Dusty Cole, Charles Sharpe, Jason Causey, Taylor Causey and Spencer Sharpe.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and balloons be sent in Tanya's memory or donations be made to Relay for Life or the Children's Ministry at the Rockmart First Baptist Church.
