Mr. Wilburn E. Davenport, age 78, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021. He was born on March 2, 1943 in Rome, GA, to his late parents: Mr. Olen Davenport and Mrs. Florence Sisson Davenport. Wilburn spent all his life in Polk County. Wilburn was retired from H & W Trucking, where he worked as a mechanic. To this day, Mr. Davenport is the oldest active member of Damascus Baptist Church in Silver Creek. In his free time, Wilburn enjoyed working on old cars and giving out candy, many people knew him as the “Candy Man”! Mr. Davenport was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willard Davenport, sister, Billie Sue Cason and 2 infant sisters.

Mr. Davenport is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Davenport of Silver Creek, GA, children: Randy Davenport and his wife, Charlene of Cedartown, GA, Robbie Davenport of Acworth, GA, Eric Smith of Powder Springs, GA, Savannah Davenport of Cedartown, GA, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister, Sara Ruth Bennett of Piedmont, AL, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Wilburn E. Davenport will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Tibbetts and Rev. Jeff Bennett officiating. Mr. Davenport will lie in state at the church on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 1:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Barry Davenport, Cason Davenport, Logan Davenport, Travis Cason, Brian Reece, Chuck Reece, Chris Pope and Donnie Middleton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
