Wilma Davis Turner

November 2, 1921 — April 20, 2008

Mrs. Wilma Mae Davis Turner, age 86, of 41 Crayton Street, Rockmart passed away Sunday, April 20th at her residence following several months of declining health.


She was born in Polk County, GA on November 2, 1921 a daughter of the late Willie and Bertha Mae Clemons. Mrs. Turner had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of the Van Wert Baptist Church and for a number of years owned and operated Davis Grocery in the Van Wert community.


She was preceded in death by husbands, Rufus Jackson Davis on July 12, 1988 and Howard Harold Turner on December 2, 1993 and by two sisters: Mildred and Virginia Clemons.


Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Frances Eaves, Pooler, GA, Mrs. Eloise Williams, Waynesboro, MS, Mrs. Betty Jean Cope, Rockmart, Mrs. Brenda Montgomery, Rockmart and Mrs. Ann Chambers, Rockmart; two sisters: Mrs. Margie Millican, Rockmart and Mrs. Betty Kinney, Rockmart; one brother: Mr. James Clemons, Aragon; 15 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22nd and 4:00 p.m. in the Van Wert Baptist Church with Revs. Robert Pyles, Charles Dyer and Gary Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.


Active pallbearers will include: Tony Montgomery, Timmy Montgomery, John Ragsdale, Dusty Chambers, Matt Montgomery, Neil Lewis, T.J. Montgomery, Mark Montgomery and Cody Nicholson


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Wilma Mae Davis Turner.
