Wilma M. Collum

Mrs. Wilma M. Collum, age 82, of Aragon, GA passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born in Polk County, GA on March 14, 1932 a daughter of the late Henry Moore and Vandetta Smith Moore. Her parents died when she was very young and she was raised by her aunt and uncle Jim and Emma Cline. Mrs. Collum had lived all of her life in the Taylorsville and Aragon area and graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1949. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church for 69 years. Mrs. Collum retired from Nantuckett Mills in Cartersville and had worked for over twenty five years in the textile industry. One of her hobbies was collecting figurines.

Mrs. Collum was preceded in death by two sisters: Vassie Brumbelow and Faye Mosely; and by four brothers: Eugene Moore, Paul Moore, Clyde Moore and James Woodward.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 64 years, James Collum of Aragon to whom she was married on February 24, 1951; two sons: Steve Collum and wife Sue, White, GA and Darrell Collum of Aragon; one sister, Barbara Bradley of Rockmart; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Garrett and Rev. Billy Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Collum will lie instate at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include: Derek Collum, Corey Collum, Jim Brumbelow, Ricky Bradley, Keith Sorrells and Stanley Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will include: Lee Devore, Gene Cantrell, Bob Allen, Billy Ward, Mathew Purdy, Wesley Deal and Brett Collum.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Wilma M. Collum.
