Obituary

Mr. Alan David Baxter, age 64, of Acworth, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Alan was born on May 25, 1962, to the late Billy Ray Baxter and the late Inez Holt Baxter. He was a lifelong resident of Cobb County and was a member of Rockmart Second Baptist Church. Alan was an avid Coca-Cola and antique memorabilia collector and took great joy in his collections. He retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of dedicated service.

In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by a niece, Stephanie Kay Wilmot.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Baxter, to whom he married on December 31, 1993; his son, Andrew Wilmot; his daughter, Kristin Reeves (Brandon); his granddaughter, Callie Cantrell, his sister, Susan Gilley (Melvin); his brothers, Mark Baxter, and Billy Baxter; his sister-in-law, Charlene Kay; his nieces and nephews, Matthew, Michael, Marie, and Ann; and his beloved pets, Lucky, Cammie, and Bae Bee. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Baxter will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Rockmart Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Warriner officiating. A private family interment will be held at Kennesaw Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Rockmart Second Baptist Church. An additional visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Carmichael Funeral Home, 1130 Whitlock Ave. NW, Marietta, GA 30064.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alan’s memory to the Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia Chapter, or PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).
