Aletha Bennett Smith

Mrs. Aletha Bennett Smith, age 66, of Aragon, GA, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2025.

Aletha was born on March 30, 1959, in Rockmart, GA, to the late Guy Sloan Bennett and Mildred Frances Griffin Bennett. A lifelong resident of Aragon, she dedicated her life to her home and family as a loving housewife and homemaker. Aletha found joy in music, floating in the pool, reading, coloring, and solving word search puzzles. Known for her kind heart and generous spirit, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

In addition to her parents, Aletha was preceded in death by the father of her children, Denny Ferguson.

Aletha is survived by her children, David Stephen (Shelley) Smith, Jr., Cristy Smith, Crystal (Jermerias) Lopez, Dustin Ferguson, Franklin (Kendra) Ferguson, and Amy (Jose) Chum; sister, Shelia (Steve) Parris. Eighteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren along with a nice, Misty Parris, and a nephew, Scott Parris, also survive.

Memorial services for Aletha will be held on Thursday evening, August 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Slaughter officiating.

Aletha’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour.
