Mr. Alvan Lloyd “Al” Miller, age 96, of Aragon, GA, passed away Friday afternoon, May 8th, 2026.

Al was born on December 15, 1929, in Linesville, PA, son of the late Arthur Lloyd Miller and the late Mary Terrill Miller. He graduated from North Shenango High School in Pennsylvania before joining the United States Air Force, where he faithfully served from 1948 until 1954 and was stationed at Ottobrunn Air Force Base in Germany.

In 1954, Al moved to Aragon, GA, where he made his home for more than seventy years. He was a longtime member of Aragon United Methodist Church before later becoming part of the Victory Baptist Church family. Al was deeply devoted to his community, serving as founder of the Aragon Historical Society and as a former member of the Aragon City Council.

Al had a passion for history and genealogy and was an avid stamp collector. He enjoyed playing softball, traveling, and the latest technology, especially spending time on his iPad. Above all else, Al was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and family man who treasured the time he spent with those he loved most.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by 3 of his sons, Alvan Lloyd Miller, Jr., Allan Lynn Miller, and Thomas Bauer; his beloved wife of 62 years, Patricia "Pat" Miller; his sisters, June Paris, Marilyn Umbaugh, Patsy Trounce, and Karen Miller; and his brothers, Bud Miller and Terry Miller.

Al is survived by his children, Mery-Anna Gladstone, Jimmy Miller (Barbiette), Brad Miller (Mary), and Kyle Miller; his 6 grandchildren, Kai, Christopher, Mallory (Sterling), Marina, Riley (Kaylee), and Logan (Savannah); 3 step-grandchildren, Blake, Crystal, and Josh; and 1 great-grandchild, Joshua. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be held Thursday, May 14th, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Snapp officiating. His granddaughter Mallory will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Aragon Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Drew Cornwell, John Elliott, Sterling Gomez, Blake Patillo, Riley Miller, Logan Miller, and Mike Stafford. Honorary pallbearers will include Al’s caretakers, Jill Cole and Beth Casey; as well as the members of Aragon Historical Society and Jamie Simpson.
