Mr. Amos Wayne Johnson, age 71, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2025.
Mr. Johnson was born in Rome, Georgia, on December 13, 1953, the son of the late Amos Johnson and Ruby Bradshaw Johnson. A lifelong resident of Silver Creek, he was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Johnson retired as a foreman from Vulcan Materials Company after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
He was an avid gun collector and had a deep love for western movies and rodeos. He especially enjoyed working with livestock, including horses and cattle — a true cowboy at heart. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Hall.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Geneva Edwards Johnson, whom he married December 23, 1977; two daughters, Alicia (Stephen) Wilson, and Christy (Scott) Elliott; grandchildren, Avery Hitchcock, Mason Hitchcock, Kinsley Huckaby, and Kaylee Huckaby; sister, Carol Hamberg; sister, Shirley Satcher; brother, Donald Jones. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held on Tuesday afternoon, September 16, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor James Cordell officiating. Interment will follow in Wax Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include Stephen Wilson, Scott Elliott, Hunter Atkins, McKoy Atkins, Jay Baxter, and Trey Ross.
