Anthony David "Tony" Sanchez

May 21, 1964 — January 8, 2026

Mr. Anthony David “Tony” Sanchez, age 61, of Aragon, GA, passed away with his daughter by his side Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Tony was born on May 21, 1964, in Orange, California. For the past 30 years, he proudly called Georgia home, spending the last 15 years in Polk County. He was a fixture in his small-town community. A self-employed contractor, Tony was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand. He attended Cross Factor Church, where his faith continued to grow. He spent his life in the church, but in his final years he devoted his life to the church and rightfully earned his place next to Jesus.

Tony had a deep love for the outdoors and adventure. Whether riding motorcycles, deep-sea fishing, snowboarding and skiing, or hanging out on Lake Lanier, he embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. Adventurous by nature and always the life of the party, Tony had a way of bringing laughter wherever he went. He enjoyed music. Listening to everything from old-school rock-and-roll to 90’s rap. Later finding inspiration and peace through worship music.

Above ALL else, Tony treasured time spent with his grandchildren. Those moments brought him his greatest happiness and will be forever remembered as some of the most meaningful times of his life. The impact their Pop Pop left on their lives will be carried with them forever.

Tony was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gertrude Greene Peterson, grandfather, George Peterson, uncle, Divello “Butch” Peterson, niece, Brittany Nicole Fessler Smith; and his best girl, Chica.

Tony is survived by two children, Nichole Sanchez Zepeda, and Michael Keith (Maggie) Sanchez; two grandchildren, Julian Zepeda and Josefina Zepeda; mother, Janice (Terry) Ayer; sisters, Charmayne (Jim) Scruggs, and Rochell (Larry) Dickerson; aunt, Doris Peterson (Jerry) Rex.

A Celebration of Life for Tony will be held on Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm. at Cross Factor Church.
