Mrs. Barbara Gentry, age 76, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Sunday morning, March 22, 2026.

Mrs. Gentry was born on January 6, 1950, in Rome, GA, a daughter of the late Clarence Eugene Waters and Lydia Sheffield Waters. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker who lived her entire life in Taylorsville and was a member of Water Road Church of God.

Barbara enjoyed working with her hands and had a special talent for making quilts, sewing, crafting, refinishing furniture, and even mowing grass. She also had a love for photography. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death on February 11, 2023, by her husband, Jerry Wayne Gentry, whom she married on December 22, 1967; brother, Donald Waters, and sisters, Ruby Bagley and Bonnie Shaw.

Barbara is survived by two daughters, Valarie Brittian (Benny), and Yvette Moore (Chuck); three grandchildren, Erica Smith (Christian), Cassie Moore, and Caiden Moore; three great-grandchildren, Addison Smith, Averie Smith and Landon Smith; brothers, Loyd Waters, Cecil Waters (Mary Sue), Doyle Waters; sisters, Betty Jean Roberson, Carolyn Patterson (Larry), and Connie West.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gentry will be held on Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Taylorsville Cemetery.

Barbara’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Marvin Waters, Larry Patterson, Jr. Ken Bagley, Andy Findley, Jerry Waters, and Terry Waters.
