Benny Norris Pruett

Mr. Benny Norris Pruett, age 71, of 149 Robinhood Drive, Rockmart passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, GA following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Cobb County, GA on October 31, 1937 a son of J. Richard Pruett and Minnie Burtz Pruett. Mr. Pruett had been a resident of Rockmart for the past 25 years, was of the Baptist faith and was the former owner and operator of Pruett LP Gas Company of Dallas,GA. Mr. Pruett was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father J. Richard Pruett on March 22, 1961, his mother Minnie Burtz Pruett on June 4, 1968, a sister Christine Houze on November 18, 2004 and a brother Harold Pruett on May 20, 2006.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beverly Gault Pruett of Rockmart to whom he was married on April 12, 1956; two daughters: Mrs. Deborah Grubbs and her husband James of Rockmart and Mrs. Teresa Manning and her husband Kenneth of Carrollton; one son, Mr. Benny R. Pruett, Rockmart; one sister, Ms. Mary Alice Pruett, Rockmart and one grandson, Douglas E. Grubbs, Rockmart.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery of Austell, GA..


Pallbearers will include: Keith Dycus, Craig Dycus, Josh Dycus, Fabian Dycus, John Gault, Jamie Gault, Jeff Gault and Robert Reagan.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
