Betty Jo Gore

June 8, 1932 — May 27, 2025

Mrs. Betty Jo Gore, age 92, formerly of the Yorkville Community, passed away peacefully at her home in Powder Springs, GA, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Betty was born June 8, 1932, in Dallas, GA, to the late Spencer F. Carroll and the late Lula Mae Waldrop. She was the eleventh of their twelve children. In her childhood, Betty learned a powerful work ethic that continued throughout her life.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, she was always involved with her family's activities. Betty lived thirty-seven years in Mableton, GA, before returning to the Yorkville Community in 1992. She moved to Powder Springs in 2018.

Betty was a woman of deep faith. She was a cherished member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church and previously served as secretary at Mableton First Baptist Church and Orange Hill Baptist. One of her nieces said, "Many people have told me that they were Christian, but Betty showed she was a real Christian." She understood that following Jesus is to love and accept everyone. She helped everyone she could. She was sometimes called "Everyone's Other Mother".

In her varied career, she managed an office for Ritter Label Company and later became a successful, independent label broker, a role in which she took great pride.

Betty loved beauty, both in nature and in what people created, she was very creative, herself, making lovely flower arrangements and paintings. She also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed reading and traveling. Her open heart and kind spirit touched everyone who knew her. Remembering her will always bring comfort and inspiration to her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie A. Gore, son Gary Lee Gore, three beloved sisters and seven dear brothers.

Betty's survivors include her daughter, Teresa Dale "Terri" Gore of Smyrna; son, Rickey Samuel Gore and his wife Melissa of Marietta; and her brother Franklin D. Carroll and his wife, Catherine, of Olathe, Kansas as well as four generations of nieces and nephews who adore her.
