Cecil Denwood "Denny"
Franklin, Jr.
Dec 23, 1940 — Oct 6, 2026
Cecil Denwood Franklin, Jr. "Denny", 85 passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning October 6th, 2026. He was born and raised in Rockmart, GA December 23, 1940.
He served in the marine corps for four years as a tank sergeant, and eventually moved into a successful career as a commodities broker that he truly loved.
Denny never met a stranger, ever! He could talk to anyone about anything. He was a trickster, and had a wit about him with a one-liner for everything; anyone that knew him would agree and could tell you a hilarious story about his antics.
He was beloved by everyone at Arbor Acres in Winston Salem, NC that took wonderful care of him, and he always guaranteed a laugh.
He was a man of manners. He taught me that you hold the door open for anyone and everyone of all walks of life, you look behind you and hold it open in case you missed someone. On his way out of this world, he finally got to hold the door for himself.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cecil Denwood Franklin Sr, and Glennis Thornton Franklin, and his wife Andrea Rayfield Franklin, and survived by his son David Franklin and his wife Catherine Franklin, their daughter Rachel Franklin, and granddaughter Lillia Valentine Franklin, and Denny's daughter Tracey Franklin.
Funeral services for Mr. Franklin will be private with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Mr. Cecil Denwood “Denny” Franklin, Jr..
