Clara Head Scott

Mrs. Clara Head Scott, age 92, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, August 6, 2021.

She was born in Polk County, GA on July 4, 1929 a daughter of the late Mark Morgan Head and the late Mattie Lois Dobbs Head. Mrs. Scott had lived all of her life in Rockmart and was the Valedictorian of the 1946 class of Rockmart High School. She began her banking career with the Rockmart Bank in June of 1946 as a teller. Mrs. Scott would serve the bank as a loan officer, auditor and retired as a vice president of the Rockmart branch of Sun Trust Bank following 46 and one half year career.
Mrs. Scott had been a member of the Rockmart First Baptist Church since 1938. During her 83 years of membership she had served as a Sunday School teacher, served on the finance committee, worked in the nursery and with the training union. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and friends. Mrs. Scott was an excellent cook and was known for her fried chocolate and lemon pies as well as her yeast rolls. She also enjoyed her visits with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. “Red” Scott, sisters: Mildred Martin and Frances Head and by her brothers: Albert and Glenn Head.

Survivors include her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Barrett and the Rev. Dr. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jason Odom officiating.

Pallbearers will include: Mark Martin, Cody Barrett, Dr. Charles M. Smith, Bryan Culver, Chris Culver and Lucus Culver. Bob Culver will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 pm until the service hour at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
