Daniel Martin “Tater” Smith, age 43, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday afternoon, July 20, 2026.

Tater was born in Rome, GA, on December 20, 1982, the son of Mary Darlene Henderson Smith and the late James Martin Smith. He spent his entire life in Polk County and was, by his own nature, a simple country boy who appreciated the things that mattered most. 

In his free time, Tater enjoyed working on his cars and could often be found sharing or listening to ghost stories, one of his favorite pastimes. Above all else, he treasured the time he spent with his family, creating memories that will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his father, Tater was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Elma Betty Ford and Violet Christine Smith, his grandfathers, William Audley Henderson and James Alford Smith, and an uncle, Leonard Wayne Henderson.

Tater is survived by his mother, Darlene Smith; sisters, Lola Theresa Reece and Becki Lynn Stewart; nephew, Stuart Glenn Hamrick; niece, Destinie Christian Reece. Many other friends also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, Tater will be cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
