Mrs. Doris King Wright, age 85, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday morning, September 18, 2025.

Mrs. Wright was born on September 24, 1939, in Rockmart, GA to the late H.C. King and the late Maggie Moon King.

Mrs. Wright was a 1957 honor graduate of Dallas High School. She played basketball where she and her teammates were the 1956 Regions Champs, then state champs in 1957. She was a member of Rockmart First Baptist Church where she served as a choir member, Preschool Sunday School teacher, member of the Counting Committee, The Funeral Food Committee Ministry, and History & Library Committee. She enjoyed deer hunting and being President of Lucky Buck Hunting Club and member of the Dixie Hunting Club in Harris County. She enjoyed traveling to all 50 U.S. states, all providences of Canada (except Newfoundland), Europe, Russia, and Finland. She was an active member of her community as a past member of the V.M. Volunteer Fire Department and Funeral Flower Fund. She retired from Engineered Fabrics with 47 years of service.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in law, Dr. Ralph King and Shirley Gober King.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John W. Wright; three sons, Keith Wright (Marsha), Renae Wright (Linda), Darrell Wright (Kim); grandchildren, Travis Wright (Julie), Jennifer Wright-Purcell (Matt), Elizabeth Weldon (Joe), Keisha Henderson (Danny), and Allison Wright-Mitchell (Michael); greatgrandchildren, Andrew Wright, Maggie Wright, Carsyn Simpson, Cameron Simpson, Patrick Purcell, Anna Claire Mitchell, JRay Forsyth, Ella Forsyth, and Kimber Forsyth.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary of the Rockmart First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jason Odom officiating and Eulogy given by Dr. Jennifer Wright-Purcell. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Roger Parris officiating.

The family will receive friends in The Great Room at Rockmart First Baptist Church on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Travis Wright, Danny Henderson, Matt Purcell, Michael Mitchell, Joe Weldon, Andrew Wright, Patrick Purcell, JRay Forsyth, Carsyn Simpson, and Cameron Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jennifer Purcell, Elizabeth Weldon, Keisha Henderson, and Allison Mitchell.

The family will be accepting flowers, however, memorial donations may be made to The Whole Heart Fund at Rockmart First Baptist Church, 311 E. Elm Street, Rockmart, GA 30153 in memory of Mrs. Wright.
