Eddie was born on September 7, 1957, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Prentice Gene Stokes, Sr. and Faye Louise Chapman Stokes. He spent the greater part of his life in Taylorsville, where he worked as a self-employed general contractor. A master carpenter by trade, Eddie was known for his skilled craftsmanship and dedication to his work. He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was also an avid fan of western movies and proudly wore western-style apparel that reflected his personality and spirit. Eddie was a spiritual man who believed in and trusted in God. He dedicated the last 30 years faithfully being of service to the recovery community.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by two brothers, Buster Stokes and Benjie Stokes.

On behalf of our children and extended family, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to every doctor, nurse, and technician who has cared for Eddie over the past four years.
He often joked with his friends on appointment days, saying, “It’s date day—Kay’s taking me to my doctor.” Beneath that humor was deep appreciation. He truly loved and respected each of you and was continually thankful for the kindness, dignity, and compassion you showed him at every visit.
For us, those drives, the waiting rooms, and even the unexpected follow-up appointments were never burdens. They became part of our shared journey—a rhythm of care and hope made lighter by your empathy and professionalism. You weren’t just Eddie’s medical team; you became part of our lives. I will dearly miss our connection.
A special and loving thank you to: Dr. Satyen Mehta, Hematologist, and Kathleen Mackey, PA, and nurses Sherry, and Courtney; Dr. George Kramer, Cardiologist (retired); Molly Tant, Nurse Practitioner at Wellstar Cartersville and nurse Donna; Dr. Inder Tandon, Gastroenterologist; and last but certainly not least, Dr. Abdul Bikak at the Advanced Heart Failure Clinic and all the nurses that we spoke with almost daily. What a blessing the care you all gave!.
You each hold a permanent place in my heart. May God continue to bless you and the extraordinary gifts you share so generously with others.
With deepest gratitude, Kay Dodd Stokes
