Elbert Curtis Owen, Jr.

Mr. Elbert Curtis Owen, Jr., age 88, of Rockmart, GA passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Mr. Owen was born in Polk County on May 10, 1937, to the late Elbert Curtis Owen, Sr. and the late Thelma Camp Owen. He spent his entire life in Polk County, where he worked as a carpenter for over 60 years. For many of those years, he had the joy of working alongside his son, Tony, a source of great pride to him. Mr. Owen was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Curtis was taught the value of family and a strong work ethic, lessons he carried with him throughout his life. He loved being around people and enjoyed crafts and jigsaw puzzles. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jean Thomason Owen; his daughter, Vickie Owen Hershel (Steve) of Ft. Myers, FL; his 3 sons, Tony Owen (Renee) of Rockmart, Johnny Owen (Lynn) of Louisville, KY, and Michael Rogers (Donna) of Rockmart; his 7 grandchildren, Scarlett Bolenbaugh (Eric), Chris Owen, Andrew Owen, Dewayne Rogers, Tiffany Hilley (Blake), Karen Rogers, and Heather George; numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mr. Owen will be held on Thursday evening, January 22, 2026 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Thomason and Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating.

Mr. Owen’s family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home at 5:00 pm until the service hour.
