Elizabeth S. "Libby" Jackson

November 28, 1922 — February 4, 2025

Mrs. Elizabeth S. “Libby” Jackson, age 102, formerly of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, February 4, 2025, in an assisted living facility in Lithia Springs, GA.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Louisville, KY, on November 28, 1922, daughter of the late William Harvey Smothers and Pearl E. Duncan Smothers. She moved to Atlanta, GA, in 1965 and then to Rockmart in 2002. Mrs. Jackson a member of the Presbyterian Church where she was ordained as a Presbyterian Lay Minister Elder since 1982. She was a gerontologist, retiring in 2001.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph O. Jackson, Jr.; a son, David Marcum; sister, Thelma Doehoefer; and two brothers, Bill Smothers and Stewart Smothers.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by two daughters, Sharon Bledsoe and Vicki Rowe; a son, Jon (Clare) Marcum; step-children, Patricia Hughes, David Anderson Jackson, Ralph Olin Jackson, III, and Mary Oettinger. Eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Jackson will be cremated, and memorial services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:30 am at Rockmart Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joe Brice officiating.
