Elizabeth Marie Johnson

Mrs. Elizabeth Marie Johnson, age 93, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, June 13, 2025.

Mrs. Johnson was born on July 3, 1931, in LaGrange, GA, a daughter of the late Roy and Gwen Johnson. She spent her early years in LaGrange, where she formed cherished childhood memories before relocating to Texas. It was there that she met the love of her life, Rev. Carl Johnson.

For the past forty years, Elizabeth made her home in Polk County, where she became a devoted member of Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. Her deep love for her church and her unwavering dedication to her family were the cornerstones of her life. Elizabeth will be remembered for her strong faith, warm heart, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carl Johnson; son, John Harvey Johnson; daughter, Sheron McDurmon; and sister, Jeanette Wolfe.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Hope (James) House; son-in-law, Jerry McDurmon; five grandchildren, Kelly (Heather) McDurmon, Carey (Priya) McDurmon, Carla McDurmon, John Trevor (Elizabeth) Johnson, and Alison Armstrong; six great-grandchildren, Ansley McDurmon, Anne Marie (Dalton) Chambers, Rhett McDurmon, Luke McDurmon, Alex Johnson, Savannah Claire Cleveland, Elsie Chambers, and Titus Chambers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. Her grandson, Kelly McDurmon will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Kelly McDurmon, Carey McDurmon, John Johnson, Rhett McDurmon, Luke McDurmon, and Darrin Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
