Mr. Elmer “Guy” Mathews, Jr, age 80, of Silver Creek, GA passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Guy was born in Rome, GA, on January 16, 1946, a son of Sara Davis Mathews and the late Elmer Mathews, Sr. He had lived the greater part of his life in Silver Creek. Guy enjoyed making music and was a former member of the Egyptian Band. He will be fondly remembered for his funny personality and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. Above all, Guy had a deep love for his son and his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his father, Guy was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Mathews Boatner.

Survivors include his son, David Mathews; mother, Sara Mathews; brothers, Eddy Mathews and Ricky Mathews (Carol); sister, Debbie Fuqua; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, Guy will be cremated and no formal services will be held at this time.
