Erlene Campbell Cole

Erlene Campbell Cole, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on April 11th, 2025.

She was a lifelong resident of Rockmart, Georgia, a Rockmart High School graduate, and retired from the local SunTrust Bank as a respected banker. She was part owner of a local jewelry store, George W. Cole Jewelers, for a number of years. She attended Carol Inn Business School. Erlene traveled throughout the area with her father during her teenage and adult years, singing and playing the piano as well as the accordion at revivals, church services, and funerals.

Erlene was born to the late Gilbert and Rilla Haynie Campbell of Rockmart, Georgia. She was the late wife of George W. Cole. She was one of four children, siblings: Horace Campbell, William Campbell, and Royce Campbell.

Erlene is survived by three daughters: Deonne (Dwain) Yates, Ramonda (David) Jackson and Nancy (Harry) Harris; seven grandchildren: Bree (Jason) Brown, Brian (Ashley) Purser, Ashley (Benjamin) Ozment, Amelia (Scott) Hensley, Sam (Summer) Martin, Melissa (Clay) Ferguson and Blake (Shirley) Jackson; twelve great-grandchildren: Mackenzie (Denver) Myers, Jake (Madison) Brown, Ella Claire Purser, Grant Purser, Cash Purser, Piper Ozment, Nash Ozment, Maggy Rae Swift, Evie Swift, Madalyn Hensley, Boone Martin and Kye Ferguson; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The service for Erlene will be held on Monday, April 14th, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church of Rockmart, with Brother David Warriner officiating.

Friends and family will be receiving on Monday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church of Rockmart.

Pallbearers will include Jason Brown, Brian Purser, Sam Martin, Jake Brown, Scott Hensley, Benjamin Ozment and Denver Myers. Honorary Pallbearers will include Ann Stanford, Jerry Campbell, Denise Campbell, Greg Campbell.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by The Cottages at Rockmart and Amity Care Hospice.
