Evelyn Lois Hensley

Mrs. Evelyn Lois Hensley passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, at Riverwood Senior Living.

Born on April 25, 1942, in Putnam County, TN, Evelyn was the beloved daughter of the late Robert H. Hammock and the late Gladys S. Meadows Hammock. A resident of Floyd County since 1969, Evelyn was a devoted member of Oak Hill Church of Christ. She and her husband owned and operated Hensley Upholstery for many years, building a respected name in the community through hard work and dedication. Evelyn was also a proud and longtime member of the TOPS Club (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), where she formed lasting friendships over more than 50 years of involvement. She will be remembered for her strength, her commitment to family and community, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years Hullon D. Hensley; son-in-law, Robert Douglas Barton; sisters, Lorene Hammock Thompson husband, Herman, Roselee Hammock Redmon and her husband, John, Willene Hammock Jackson and her husband, Carl; brothers, Franklin Junior Hammock and his wife, Goldie and Charlotte, Danny Harold Hammock, Jimmy Ray Hammock; ten infant brothers and sisters.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Treva Diane (Gene) Proctor, Timothy Mark (Carolyn) Hensley, Connie Hensley Barton (Barry Stephens), and Lori Ann (Mike) Beavers; grandchildren, Tabitha (Clint) Helms, Stephanie (Josh) Jenkins, Courtney (Jake) Fekete, Abbey Hensley, Katie Beavers, Dan (Kacie) Proctor, Jared (Megan) Hensley and Grant Beavers; great-grandchildren: Parker Jenkins, Peyton Jenkins, McKenzie Proctor, Brody Proctor and Shiloh Hensley; sisters, Linda (Mal) Stover, Brenda (Ray) Vincent. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Thursday afternoon, July 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Church of Christ with Elder Steve Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Evelyn’s family will receive friends at Oak Hill Church of Christ on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Dan Proctor, Clint Helms, Josh Jenkins, Jake Fekete, Jared Hensley, and Grant Beavers.
