Frances Holcombe

Mrs. Frances Holcombe, age 83, of Old Collard Valley Road Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 in a Rome Hospital following a lengthy illness.


She was born on October 26, 1928 in Polk County a daughter of Oliver Johnson Brownlow and Ethel Irene Brittain Brownlow. Mrs. Holcombe had lived all of her life in the Rockmart area where she was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Integrated Mills.


Mrs. Holcombe was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Holcombe on July 21, 1970, her parents and a brother, Oliver Retho Brownlow.


Survivors include two daughters: Retha Holcombe Tibbetts and husband Cordell, Rockmart and Martha Holcombe Townsend and husband Carl, Rockmart; grandchildren: Kathryn Tibbetts Benson and husband Jonathan, Mark Carlton Townsend and wife Pamela and Dennis James Tibbetts; great grandchildren: Jacob Kelley, Madisyn Benson, Eric Benson, Morgan Benson, Ethan Townsend and Adriana Townsend.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Hopkins and Rev. Owen Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Gary Brownlow, Major Snow, Eddie Burnley, Billy Swift, Bruce Edwards and Christopher Waggoner.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
