George W. Mayfield

George W. “Dubb” Mayfield, age 83, of Aragon, GA, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023.


Mr. Mayfield was born on May 2, 1939, in Dallas, GA, to his parents: William Lee Mayfield and Martha Louise O'neal Mayfield. George lived all his life in Paulding County and Polk County. He was retired from Goodyear and was a member of Euharlee Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, cutting trees and cooking.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Willie Jo Smith Mayfield who passed away on June 23, 2008; son-in-law, Eddie Waters who passed away on September 6, 2017; six brother and sisters: Marlin Mayfield, Billy Joe Mayfield, Mary Lee Mayfield Thomason, Martha Irene Mayfield Holt, Essie Bell Mayfield Thomason, Donald Ray Mayfield and Barbara Jo Mayfield; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.


Mr. Mayfield is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mayfield; children: Angie Mayfield Waters, Mike Pinkard, Linda Scoggins, Sharon Waddell, Janet Pastovich, Lisa James and Steve Pinkard; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; brothers: Hugh Thomas Mayfield, Sr., Willie Anderson Mayfield; sister, Sarah Loue Mayfield Gibson and a number of nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services for Mr. Mayfield will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 3:00 PM in The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stevie Waddell and Rev. Stephen Moore officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Chambers officiating the committal service.


Serving as pallbearers will be the following: Josh Borders, Michael Pastovich, Dustin Scoggins, Thomas Mayfield, Jody Cook, James Thacker, Brian Thacker and Draylee Pinkard. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Donald Thacker and Lamar Earwood.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the service hour.


Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. George W. “Dubb” Mayfield.
