Mr. Grady R. Collum, age 94, of Taylorsville, GA passed away Friday, June 20, 2025.
Mr. Collum was born on June 10, 1931, in Taylorsville, Georgia, a son of the late Lewis Grady “Bay” Collum and the late Carrie Blalock Collum. A lifelong resident of Bartow County, Grady grew up working on the family farm and developed a strong work ethic that would define his life.
For forty years, he was the proud proprietor of Grady Collum Floor Covering, earning the respect of his community through dedication and integrity. Grady was a faithful member and deacon of Hills Creek Baptist Church, where he served with humility and love.
He will be remembered as a devoted family man and a pillar of his church and community—an example of faith, hard work, and compassion.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Collum was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melanie Faye Collum; and brothers, Johnnie Collum, and Roy “Buddy” Collum.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Doris Gentry Collum; son, Lewis (Tammy) Collum; daughter, Myra (Tom) Cole; four grandsons, Kelsey (Kasey) Collum, Connor Collum, Evan Cole, and Bryson Cole; great-grandchildren, Abigail Collum, Honor Brown, and Legend Brown; four sisters, Marie Thomason, Edna Griffin, Mattie Corley, and Hellen Mauldin; brother, W.D. Collum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the following dear friends for their unwavering care, love, and support for Mr. Collum: Sherry Elaine Cantrell Dupree, Khristie Staines, Samantha Cantrell, Cindy Barnett, Michelle Massey and the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center, Roving Road.
Funeral services for Mr. Collum will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at Hills Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Tibbitts presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Herschel Tibbitts officiating. Music will be provided by the Tibbitts family.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, June 23, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home, Rockmart, Georgia.
The family will be accepting flowers; however, memorial donations may be made to Hills Creek Baptist Church, 702 Old Cedartown Road, Rockmart, GA 30153 in memory of Mr. Collum.
