Jack Howard Davis

Mr. Jack Howard Davis of Douglasville, Ga., passed away Friday morning, Jan. 16, 2026, at his residence. He was 86.

Born Oct. 13, 1939, in Rockmart, Ga., he was the son of William Presley Davis and Meta Mae Leach Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers William “Billy” Israel Davis, Samuel Charles Edwin Davis, Jerry Wayne Davis and Clarence Brooke Davis, and by sisters Julia Rebecca Truett and Laura Elda Jane Johnson. He was also preceded in death by wife Joann Benefield and former wife Mina Louise Allen, mother of his son.

He is survived by son Michael Presley Davis (and wife Maria Alexandra Ergueta), sister Betty Joyce Stringer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A devoted and loving father, he cherished his son Michael.

Mr. Davis was a proud graduate of Rockmart High School, class of 1959, and was a dedicated member of the Yellow Jackets basketball team. He enjoyed many class reunions and informal get-togethers with his classmates.

He was employed by Eastern Air Lines for 25 years, and later in the pest control and trucking industries. An outdoors enthusiast, for many years he enjoyed deer hunting with family and friends.

In retirement, he became an avid and skilled writer and photographer, taking numerous trips to his favorite part of the country, the Western states, to capture their scenic beauty. His home remains decorated with some of his favorite photographs from those trips.

A Georgia Bulldogs fan, he enjoyed many Saturday afternoons watching the Dawgs with his son.

Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home in Rockmart. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery.

Mr. Davis’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from noon until the service hour.
