Mr. James M. Elliott, III, age 78, of Carrollton, GA, passed away Sunday evening, August 3, 2025.
Mr. Elliott was born on May 9, 1947, in Rome, Georgia, to the late James M. Elliott Jr. and Louise Jackson Elliott. He spent his childhood in Aragon, GA, and had called Carrollton home for the past 50 plus years.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War, Mr. Elliott later retired as a supervisor from the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary. He was a dedicated member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and a passionate student of history.
Mr. Elliott was well known for his love of shooting sports and was an avid gun collector. He found joy in the game of golf and was a devoted fan of both baseball and football.
He will be remembered for his sharp mind, deep love of heritage, and the camaraderie he shared with friends and family through his many interests.
Mr. Elliott is survived by a son, Scott (Christy) Elliott; daughter, Kristy (Brandi) Elliott; eight grandchildren, Cameron Elliott, Mason Duffie, Baylie Elliott, Kinsley Huckaby, Audree Ricks, Logan Elliott, Kaylee Huckaby, and Blakleigh Elliott; four great-grandchildren, Kane Elliott, Rebecca Duffie, Madison Elliott, and Rosie Duffie; sister, Suzanne Wilson; brother, Jonathan Elliott. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be held on Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at 101 Church of Aragon with Pastor James Cordell officiating. Interment will follow in Aragon Cemetery with military honors provided by the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post 12 of the American Legion.
Mr. Elliott’s family will receive friends at 101 Church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include Rylan Stresthadatta, Brett Childers, Brett Bohannon, David Thornton, Nathan Thornton, and Jarrett Ferguson.
