James William Owens

Mr. James William Owens, age 88, of Aragon, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Owens was born on February 27, 1937, in Cedartown, Georgia, the son of the late George Isaac Owens and Cora Lee Graham Owens. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and spent many years working as a trade show display installer.

Mr. Owens had a deep love for music and could often be found playing his guitar and banjo. He also enjoyed restoring old cars and had a lifelong fondness for westerns—especially those starring his favorite actor, John Wayne.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife, Clydene Era Saxon Owens, whom he married in October of 1970, a son, Wayne Owens, daughters, Debra Bryant, Cherry Keel and Beth Harris, and by his first wife, Marilyn Juanita White.

Mr. Owens is survived by his children, Terry Owens, Keith (Denise) Owens, Cindy Owens, Tim Owens, Jody Owens, Allen Cronan, Ronnie Cronan, and Linda Anglin; sister, Dorothy (Frank) Ellison. Twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Owens will be held on Monday evening, June 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Golden officiating.

Mr. Owens’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Monday from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour.
