Mr. James Edwin Worley, age 91, passed away Thursday morning, June 18, 2026.

Mr. Worley was born in Canton, GA, on April 22, 1935, son of the late Winton Worley and Ara Mae Worley. He had spent the greater part of his life in Smyrna, GA, before making Polk County his home 25 years ago. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps, including overseas duty in Germany, and later continued his military service with the United States Army Reserves. Mr. Worley enjoyed a successful career as a skilled machinist with American National Can Company, where his dedication and craftsmanship were highly valued. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and found great enjoyment in ranching and woodworking, pursuits that reflected his strong work ethic and appreciation for creating and building with his hands.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Worley was preceded in death by his wife, Modene Ledford Worley, and a sister, Betty Hurst.

Mr. Worley is survived by two sons, Jay Worley (Kelly), and Dwayne Worley (Terri); three grandchildren, Sarah Adkins, Emily Worley, and Conner Worley; two great-grandchildren, Thatcher Adkins and Eloise Adkins. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Worley will be held on Friday morning, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, GA.

Mr. Worley’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Jay Worley, Dwayne Worley, Conner Worley and John Davis.
