Joan Smith Forrister

Ms. Joan Smith Forrister, age 70, of Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Rome, GA on July 12, 1944 a daughter of the late Rev. George H. Smith and Vivian Garner Smith. She had been a resident of Rockmart most of her life where she was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Charles Forrister on May 7, 1991.

Survivors include two daughters: Marty Wilson and her husband Todd of Rockmart, Kelley Norris and her husband John of Gainesville; six grandchildren: Luke Camp, Logan Camp, Bryce Wilson, Abbegail Wilson, Jonathan Norris, and Tyler Norris; sister, Faye Williams and her husband Larry, Rockmart; cousin, Roy Moore, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ms. Forrister will be held Wednesday, July 16 at 1:00 PM in the Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tony Weaver and Rev. Barry Snapp officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Rev. Calvin Brown officiating.

Pallbearers will include: John Norris, Todd Wilson, Larry Williams, Bryce Wilson, Luke Camp and Roy Moore.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, July 15 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
