Kenneth Eugene Smith

Mr. Kenneth Eugene Smith, age 78, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Saturday morning, July 5, 2025.

Kenneth was born on November 6, 1946, in Kokomo, IN, a son of the late Arthur Smith and the late Ivey Railey Smith. He made his home in Rockmart, Georgia, since 1998. A devoted member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly, Kenneth served faithfully as a lifetime member and former deacon.

Kenneth found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, solving word puzzles, watching westerns, and listening to Gospel music. He worked as a truck driver for Stearns Moving & Storage, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Smith, Wesley Smith, and Ray Smith; and his sister, Joyce Gliechman

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years, Shirley Akins Smith, to whom he married on May 19, 1972; three children, Jay (Leonda) Smith, Rana (Nick) Lively, and Brandon (Brandy) Smith; six grandchildren, Waylon Jay Smith, Jr., Kayla Smith, Dadrian Huggins, Dashun Huggins, Summer Benefield, and Cain Holbrooks; one great-grandchild, Jameson Benefield; four sisters, Loretta (Gary) Reed, Molly Reed, Lacreta (Jim) Lawson, and Drama (Gary) Sopher; brothers, Denny (Margaret) Smith and David Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Kenneth will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at The Church of God of the Union Assembly-Polk with Rev. Jesse Starnes and Rev. Lasador Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Zach Sanders, Jesse Perkins, Tony McElwee, Gabe Franklin, Dadrian Huggins, and Dashun Huggins. Bob Shirah will serve as an honorary pallbearer. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at the church.
