Obituary

Mrs. Lois Joy Swift Lee, age 89, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Friday afternoon, October 30, 2026.

Mrs. Lee was born in Aragon, GA, on June 27, 1937, daughter of the late William R. Swift and Mary Bittan Swift. She spent the greater part of her life in Rockmart and the Bellview community and was a devoted member of Bellview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lee dedicated more than 27 years of her life to working in the personnel office at Engineered Fabrics. She found joy in the simple things she loved, cooking, reading, and sewing, but above all, her greatest joy came from caring for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand and make sure those she loved were cared for. Her kindness, faith, and devotion to her family will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband of over 67 years on September 3, 2002, William P. “Billy” Lee, whom she married April 8, 1955, a great-granddaughter, Ellie Kate Nickerson, son-in-law, Randy Smith, sister, and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Paulk, sister-in-law, Shirley Swift, and a brother-in-law, Jack Purser.

Mrs. Lee is survived by a daughter, Wanda Smith; sons, Dale Lee (Robin), and Darrell Lee (Tracy); sister, Betty Purser; brother, Rev. Billy Swift. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Lee will be held on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Davidson. Mr. Jeff Swift will deliver the eulogy.

Mrs. Lee family will receive friends at Bellview Baptist Church Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Joshua Thompson, John Childers, Mark Purser, Travis Smith, Jimmy Davidson, and Felix Young. Honorary pallbearers will include Ashton Hughes, Drew Hughes, Lamar Lee, Denny Wayne Garrett, David Garett, Jordan Lee, Nathan Reynolds, Grayson White, and Collin White.
