Mary Frances Smith

Mrs. Mary Frances Smith, age 88, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday morning, December 18, 2025.

Mrs. Smith was born in Eastman, GA, on May 4, 1937, a daughter of the late George E. Harrell and Jewell M. Harrell. Prior to retirement, she had worked for over 43 years with Wender and Roberts Drug Store in the accounts payable division. Mrs. Smith was a devoted member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where she was involved with most activities. She was considered “everyone’s Grandmother”. Mrs. Smith enjoyed sewing, cross stitching and was also known to ride a motorcycle from time to time.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Irby Austin Smith, and brothers, Wendell Harrell, Edward C. Harrell, and Lesene Harrell.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Linda Marie (Stanley Wayne) Wilson; sons, Kenneth Lee (Anne) Smith, and David Earl Smith; grandchildren, Darrell Bruce Norton, Marie Kay Carlsen, Alyssa Ballew, and Kristin Smith. Six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Smith’s family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Tim Carlsen, Ryan Carlsen, Cris Carlsen, Charlie Ballew, Alex Carlsen and Matt Bailey.
