Ms. Mary Catherine Proffitt Stieber, age 83, of Kingston, GA, passed away Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026.

Ms. Stieber was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, on January 15, 1943, daughter of the late Stanley Eugene Proffitt and Golda Mae Emberton Proffitt. She proudly served her country as a veteran of the United States Army before beginning a long career with the Internal Revenue Service. She made her home in Mobile, Alabama, for the past 30 years before recently moving to Georgia.

A lover of the outdoors, Ms. Stieber found joy in gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time hiking and enjoying nature's beauty. She also delighted in life's simple pleasures, especially sharing meals at the local IHOP wherever she lived.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Stieber was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Proffitt Richey, and a brother, Lanos Proffitt.

Ms. Stieber is survived by two children, Chandra Stieber, and Jeff Stieber (Phoebe); sister, Margaret Jean Belcher. Three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Private graveside services for Ms. Stieber were held in Georgia National Cemetery.
