Melba Jean Peek Hansard

Mrs. Melba Jean Peek Hansard, age 65, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, April 1, 2013.

A native of Rome, GA she was born on March 20, 1948 a daughter of the late John Carl Peek and Pearl Cook Peek. She was a 1966 graduate of Rockmart High School and for a period of time worked for the law firm of C. Stephen Malone. Mrs. Hansard also worked for the Pepsi Cola Company before becoming a stay at home mom providing in home day care. She had been a resident of Douglasville since 1979, moving there from Rockmart.

She was preceded in death by a son, Drake Hitchcock in 2003, by a grandson, Seth Hitchcock in 2006 and by a daughter, Amanda Hansard in 2008.

Survivors include three sons: Kerry Hitchcock and wife Terri of Hiram, Tracy Hitchcock and wife Melanie of Macon and David Herrera of Mabelton; one brother, Jimmy Peek, Cedartown ; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Sonny Cook officiating. Eulogies will be given by family and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to A Leg in Faith Foundation, P.O. Box 49445, Athens, GA 30604.
