Melissa Ann Lewis Watts, age 56, of Aragon, GA, passed away Thursday evening, January 30, 2025.
Melissa was born in Rome, GA, on April 12, 1968, daughter of the late Jimmy Cordle and Patricia Ann Williams Cordle. She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. Melissa was a graduate of Rockmart High School, attended University of Georgia, received her Bachelor’s degree from Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, and earned her Master’s degree in Science Education from Berry College. She went on to receive her Specialist in Education. Melissa enjoyed reading, playing Pokémon, bowling, taking trips to the beach and watching movies. She was very passionate about her teaching degree in education of science and had 25 plus years with Polk School District. Melissa loved her Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, Melissa was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Cordle, niece, Jodi Dover, and an aunt, Shirley Gray.
Melissa is survived by her children, Zackery (Sarah) Lewis, Benjamin Lewis, and Ariel (Dakota) McDowell; three grandchildren, Analeigh, Bladen, and Emilia; sister, Pam Johnson; brother, Tim Cordle. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Melissa will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Kent Thomas and Rev. Justin Carter officiating.
Melissa’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
