Nancy Ellen Barrett

Mrs. Nancy Ellen Barrett, age 71 of 415 Sciple Street, Rockmart passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center following a lengthy illness.


She was born in Cullman, AL on September 22, 1938 a daughter of the late Marvin Twilley and Pearl McDowell Twilley. Mrs. Barrett had lived in Rockmart since 1961 moving here from Hanceville, AL. She was a homemaker and kept children in her home for many years. Mrs. Barrett was a member of the Wimberly Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and a sister.


Survivors include her husband, Bobby Barrett of Rockmart to whom she was married on January 20, 1961; daughter, Marcia Kenney, Rockmart; son, Sammy Barrett, Rockmart and adopted daughter, Jan Hutchings, Rockmart; one sister, Martha Jane Abbott, Hanceville, AL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyt Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Wimberly Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Kevin Loyd, Bobby Helms, Larry Duke, Andy Garrett, Eric Fennell, Jack Goss and Jimmy Hodges.


The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
