Mrs. Nellie Jo Chrisman Shiflett, age 80, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026 at her residence.
Mrs. Shiflett was born January 24, 1946, in Rome, GA, daughter of the late William Edward Deaton and Doris Sisson Deaton.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Shiflett devoted her life to her family and the people she loved. She spent the greater part of her life in Silver Creek and had made Taylorsville her home for the past 16 years. She was a woman of Baptist faith; and found joy in life's simple pleasures, including visiting the lake, playing trivia, and, most of all, spending quality time with her family. She will be remembered for her love, kindness, and the many cherished memories she leaves behind.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shiflett was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Chrisman; brothers: Roy Deaton and Eddie Dean Deaton; sisters: Iva Jean Hall, and Willie Newborn; and sister-in-law, Joyce Deaton.
Mrs. Shiflett is survived by her husband, Billy Shiflett, to whom she married on July 3, 2010; daughters: Donna Taylor (Brent), and Lynn Bennett; son, Shan Chrisman (Terri); four grandchildren: Haven Chrisman, Rhiannon Dover (Dakota), Kellen Burk (Alanna), and Zach Burk; several great grandchildren; step-children, Pam Duncan (Mike), and Christi Williams (Gene); several step-grandchildren; brothers, Danny Deaton, and Nathan Deaton (Patricia); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services to honor her life will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home, with Reverend Kenneth Boatner officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
Mrs. Shiflett’s family will receive friends Sunday evening, July 19, 2026, at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Kellen Burk, Coy Deaton, Zach Burk, Steve Harris, Gene Williams, and Corbyn Burk.
