Patty Ann Peek Martin

Mrs. Patty Ann Peek Martin, age 93, of Rockmart, Georgia joined her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2025. She was born on June 19, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio to James Thomas Peek and Helen Marguerite Peoples Peek.

Patty Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Rodney Martin, her son David O’Neal Martin, and her sister Betty Peek Bond.

Patty Ann is survived by her daughter Kathy Melea Martin, her daughter-in-law Patricia Louise Martin, her grandson Joshua David Martin (Courtney), her granddaughter Allison Lynn Brown (Caleb), and her three great grandchildren, Jack, David, and Clara. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Patty Ann loved God, her family, and her neighbors. She was a woman with many talents. She could sew, quilt, wield a hammer, and do almost anything to which she put her mind. She was very crafty and even owned a craft store with a cousin called “The Home Place.”

She taught kindergarten at the First Baptist Church of Rockmart for a number of years and her impact there was deeply felt. Several of her former students participated in her hospital care towards the end of her life. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and led the music in the children’s department.

If you knew Mrs. Patty even a little, here’s how you would describe her: SHARP, FUNNY, QUICK WITTED, KEEN, PRACTICAL, KIND, CAPABLE, PRUDENT, CHARITABLE, INDEPENDENT, AND JOYFUL. She would also have all of these words at the ready in any puzzle or game you were in the midst of playing.

She was well liked and deeply loved by those who knew her best.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Nicky James officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will include Jim Shanks, Johnny Martin, Frank Rutkowski, Nathan Raulerson, David Burke, and Colton Bozeman. Carroll Martin and Paul Raulerson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
