Mr. Paul Morgan James, 86, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. James was born in Campbellsville, KY, on August 6, 1940, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Polytechnical College and proudly dedicated more than 40 years of his career to Lucent Technologies.

James enjoyed the simple pleasures of country living and could often be found riding his tractor or working with his hands in his woodworking shop. He especially enjoyed building cabinets and creating things for his home. He also loved cooking breakfast and bringing family and friends together around the table.

Some of his happiest times were spent at Lake Weiss, where he enjoyed fishing and relaxing on the water. Although James claimed that he never caught anything, he treasured the time spent there and the memories made along the way.

In addition to his parents, Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Chavis James, on July 9, 2021, whom he married July 21, 1963. A son, Timothy James also preceded him in death.

Mr. James is survived by a daughter, Belinda Fleming (Todd); three grandchildren, Benjamin Morgan Fleming, Spencer Fleming, and Haley Hale (Dylan); five great-grandchildren, Carter Hale, Walker Hale, Waylon Hale, Jack Hale, and Jolee Mae Hale.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. James will be cremated, and private memorial services will be held at a later date.

The family request memorial contributions be made in Mr. James’ honor to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
