Randolph Roland Upton, Jr.

Mr. Randolph Roland Upton, Jr., age 69, of Browning Road Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness.


He was born in Paulding County, GA on June 14, 1942 a son of the late Randolph Roland Upton, Sr. and Nettie Griffith Upton. Mr. Upton had lived most of his life in the Polk and Paulding County area and was a member of the White Oak Springs Baptist Church. Prior to ill health he was a self employed painter. Mr. Upton was preceded in death by three brothers: C.L., Jimmy and Wendell Upton.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lora Lee Davis Upton of Rockmart to whom he was married on December 16, 1959; four daughters: Patty Welch, Buchanan, June Phillips, Douglasville, Bobbie McCourt, Tallapoosa and Angela Howard, Buchanan; four sons: Davy Upton, Tony Upton, Robert Upton and Michael Upton all of Rockmart; two sisters: Linda Sosbee and Jenny Upton both of Cartersville; 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Revs. Charles Dyer and Wayne Welch officiating. Interment will follow in the White Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Davy Upton, Jr., Chris Upton, Justin Brown, Jason Williams, Matthew Upton, Nicholas Taylor, Stephen Brown and Roberto Hildago.


The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
